IDEAS ARE LIKE RABBITS…

There’s a quote by the great American writer John Steinbeck that always makes me smile: “Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.” And if you know the DDCC team, you know why.

Ideas are the seed to DDCC’s creative process that everything else grows from. We often joke that no idea is a bad idea because it’s so important that we brainstorm together as a team and that everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and suggestions. Winning ideas have come from editors, designers, print personnel and even friends and kids.

While we don’t always hit the nail on the head the first time, it’s never for a lack of passion or trying. Plus, we know there are always more ideas where those came from because like Steinbeck suggests, we know “how to handle them.” We just head back to the “drawing board” (a.k.a. DDCC’s conference room where there’s always some sort of sweet treat to fuel our fun and creativity).

Just yesterday, our team had the privilege of brainstorming two new taglines to use with logos we are developing for some great new clients. First, we thought about taglines that really stand out for us…ones that are catchy, clever, inspiring and memorable. Then, we thought about the client, their business, their personality and what would really connect and speak to their customer. We’re not sure if these ideas will be the end all, be all, but we’re proud of them. And that counts for something.

How do you come up with your best ideas? Do you have a process? We’d love to hear from you!
